Angela Marcum is one of the reasons the Champaign Park District is recognized as one of the best park districts in the country. Her creativity and dedication is outstanding. Angela has proven that she is an outstanding theatre professional...ability to work with a variety of people in different situations and to be a great team leader. She is a great communicator and always works well with staff...she is an outstanding person, theatre director, manager, leader, teacher, and coach. If you are looking for a hardworking, team player, and a dedicated individual, Angela is that person.
— Joe DeLuce, Director of Champaign Park District
Her excitement, enthusiasm and ability to bring new people in has been tremendous.
— David Shunk, Producer, ArtCo Theatre Company
Angela brings an enthusiasm and ability to her teaching of the arts that I have not seen paralleled. She has a gift for helping students stretch beyond their preconceived expectations. Though she is flexible and unflappable, she is able to maintain order in the classroom...I recently co-produced a production at Holy Cross School that Angela directed. The production involved two casts, full set, costumes, lighting, sound, marketing, and a pit orchestra. Angela smoothly navigated the different waters engaging shy five-year-olds, complex thirteen-year olds, and opinionated fifty-year-olds with equal ease. Drama in and of itself tends to create drama. Angela appreciates that and helps her students to channel that energy productively...In addition to her teaching competence, Angela is also personally gifted theatrically. She is a wonderful actress and has a beautiful trained singing voice. Rather than being intimidated, her students want to emulate her.
— Tracey Wszalek, Producer Holy Cross School
Under the direction of Angela, I experienced something I had not experienced before; total trust in her actors.
— Brett Previdi, Saint Joseph's College
Angela was adept at letting us have free rein with our characters, and expert at redirecting us if she felt it was warranted. She was also excellent at having us try a scene a few alternative ways, then giving her thoughts on it and requesting our feedback on which way felt most true to our character
— Royce Cumming, Saint Joseph's College
Angela has a wonderful sense for drawing out talent in people.
— John Tilford, ArtCo Theatre Company
I have known Angela for over 20 years and rarely have I encountered such a motivated person. Angela approaches any opportunity or challenge with an unparalleled optimism and enthusiasm , She thrives on creating a productive, fun, and inviting environment for all of her colleagues. She carries her weight, and often picks up others to help them, she is the first to volunteer and try to find a solution to any problem even if it is not exactly in her wheelhouse - she is the kind of person you want to work with! Angela Marcum is as dedicated to her work, friends, and colleagues as anyone I have ever worked with. She's a wonderful person to work with and have on your team and goes the extra mile to make sure that everyone she works with is getting what they need from her participation and fulfilling her expectations for the team! I cannot recommend Angela enough. Anyone would be truly lucky to have her as part of their organization; she is amazing- Caroline Costa, Artistic Director Three Brothers Theatre
I feel that Ms. Marcum would be an excellent candidate for a position such as this and would be a definite asset to your program. I have known and worked with Ms. Marcum for five years and have always found her to be a talented and energetic theatre professional. Angela is also a person who works well with peers and is an energetic and positive person who is willing to take on any challenges. Angela is intelligent, responsible, and caring colleague who can be counted on to always give her best to any project. -John Rahe, Saint Joseph’s College, Rensselaer, IN.
I first met Angela when we were both pursuing advanced degrees in theatre at Regent University. I knew right away that Angela was born for the theatre world. She quickly became a class favorite as she provided her classmates with wonderful stories of her childhood in theatre, her exciting behind-the-scenes Broadway experiences with her dynamic brother, and her adult directing experiences. Her enjoyable stories and insightful reflection on how those stories shaped her understanding of the world that we inhabit were often, in my opinion, more compelling and instructive than the lectures that were the basis for the coursework...After my classroom time with Angela was over, I knew that I wanted to always be involved with Angela in a professional capacity. She possesses all of the traits that we value in the theatre: kindness, enthusiasm, positivity, empathy. Because I work at an educational institution where character development is a part of the mission, I asked Angela to visit my school to act as adjudicator for our student play. She just seemed like the perfect choice for us. Angela generously agreed to serve in this capacity, and, not surprisingly, she showcased an impressive ability to lead young actors through positive feedback that addresses both strengths and weaknesses of the performance. Since her visit to our school, my students have consistently sought out advice from Angela through email and social media. Though her adjudication visit was short, in the limited time that she spent with us, she was able to foster a level of trust with my students that made her an important resource for them. -Amy Zipperer, Broadwayworld.com Reviewer/ Professor Georgia Military College
